+ Discipline

Discipline can be defined as the ability to motivate oneself in spite of a negative emotional state. Qualities associated with discipline include willpower, hard work, and persistence. Discipline is the product of persisted willpower. Whereas willpower is the strength and ability to carry out a certain task, self-discipline is the ability to do it routinely and even automatically (as if through reflex). Where willpower is the muscle, self-discipline is the structured thought that controls that muscle.

Students in taekwondo learn discipline. They learn to do as they are asked. And they gain the self-discipline to keep going when training is tough

+ Focus

Focus means "to concentrate" or to "focus ones thoughts"
The first skill that is taught in the program is FOCUS. The exercises and drills will improve student's concentration.

+ Confidence

Confidence is generally described as a state of being certain either that a hypothesis or prediction is correct or that a chosen course of action is the best or most effective. Self-confidence is having confidence in oneself

The classes are fun and easy to follow. Students will build confidence and build self esteem through different group activities.

+ Courtesy

Enduring respect for and consideration of self and others. Politeness. Humility.

The masters and senior students constantly enforce these skills to prepare students on how to show courtesy in all circumstances.

+ Honesty

Honesty is telling the truth. Honesty is straightforward conduct. Honesty is being sincere, truthful, trustworthy, honorable, fair, genuine, and loyal with integrity.

At Master Yi's Taekwondo and Martial Arts we encourage honest interaction with one another, leading by example.

+ Self Control

Taekwondo is not to be used for aggression, but for defense. This is one reason why a student of Taekwondo must learn self-control while he/she is learning Taekwondo techniques. In class, physical self-control is vital to avoid accidentally harming one's self or one's fellow students

+ Perseverance

Taekwondo training is physically demanding, and learning the techniques properly requires a lot of repetition. When one starts learning a particular technique or pattern, it will probably be difficult at first; so one must persevere through the time and practice required to master it, and not be discouraged. Without perseverance, one will not progress well in the art or in life. It takes perseverance to have an indomitable spirit.

+ Cooperation

Cooperation is the common effort of a group for their mutual benefit. Cooperation is teamwork. Cooperation is working together peacefully.

Cooperation is essential to Martial Arts training to cooperate with one another. A great benefit of martial arts training at Master Yi's is that we encourage working together to achieve our goals.

+ Integrity

There are many words that could be used to describe one who has integrity: honest, upright, good, honorable, incorruptible, principled... Someone with integrity adheres to moral and ethical principles.

+ Enthusiasm

Enthusiasm is the energy, the fuel, the blazing fire that brings about a successful result. A famous writer once said that nothing great ever happened without enthusiasm. If you want to accomplish great things; if you want to realize great goals; if you want to live a great life, you absolutely must possess enthusiasm for everything you do.

+ Respect

Respect is an important way of being kind and good to other people. Respect means not making fun of others. Respect means thinking of how somebody else feels. Respect is treating another person the same way you'd want to be treated yourself!

There are lots of easy ways to show respect! You show respect when you are polite, saying things like "yes/no sir", "yes/no maam", "please" and "thank you." You show respect by appreciating people's differences. You also show respect by not making people feel uncomfortable. You even show respect when you lend a helping hand!

It's important to give respect to everyone. During training at Master Yi's Taekwondo and Martial arts respect is not optional it is a requirement. Respect for self and others.

+ Appreciation

Appreciation is knowing or understanding the value of something. Loosely it also means "assigning a high value to" something. A feeling or expression of gratitude.

It is believed there is a direct correlation between appreciation and success. The more appreciation, the more morale improves and the more moral improves, the more willing people are to go the extra yard. At Mater Yi's Taekwondo and Martial Arts we believe the power of appreciation is essential for our students.

+ Sacrifice

Sacrifice is this: Giving up something of value for the sake of something more important or worthy. In life one cannot expect to achieve great things without some degree of sacrifice.

Whether it be sacrificing time from personal life to train or other areas, sacrifices will be made if success is a goal. At Master Yi's Taekwondo we look forward to partnering with our students to help them achieve those goals.

+ Leadership

Our programs help develop a positive leader for a better tomorrow. We do not teach violence we teach life skills, self defense and the confidence to stand for what is right.
